Not dual active. You can receive calls in both sim cards at a time (no busy tone or not reachable like dual standby ones). Only problem related to this phone (not exact a problem) is you can not connect data network in both sim cards at the same time. Normally, you do not download in both sim cards at a time. @Rogina right now I can’t help you finding one dual sim active smartphone (in the true sense of the term). HTC has no dual active phone in custody. Desire V is dual standby. You have to wait for that dual active phone. Nothing else I can say at this point of time.

@ Nigel you can switch to Sony Xperia tipo which is running Android 4.0 ICS and priced around Rs. 9500. It features 3.2 inch touch screen, 3.2 MP camera (no LED flash), 800 MHz CPU and 1500 mAh battery. Just missing LED flash, otherwise really a good one.
If brand is not much of a factor to you you can opt for Micromax. Superfone A100 Canvas is really a good choice for you at your comfortable price range. @Gaurav, I have seen specs of viewsonic 350, it is a bit older model and comes with Android 2.2 Gingerbread.With 600 MHz processor it can never be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS. It was rather okay with at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread. I have not found anything that suggests Gingerbread upgrade available to it. Please ignore it (I personally think). ZTE U960 seems to be a better one with Android Gingerbread, 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, GSM+GSM dual active, dual camera, 1500 mAh battery. My choice will be ZTE U960. And many many thanks for letting me know about ZTE U960. I hope your hard toil will help many potential buyers who are looking for a dual active phone in India and outside India.

Thanks for reverting. You can see Samsung GT-C3312 is not dual sim active nor Samsung E2252. Other dual active mobile I have found is Samsung C5212. But a confusing one for me as well!! They have written it as dual active in tag line but in description they spotted it as dual standby. I do not know why such a confusing statement is placed from Samsung. I am sorry to say no other gsm+gsm dual sim active phone is available other than Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos S6802 . Well..I will try to pick one from the scratch if there is any and will let you know.

Yes, the droid is really confusing. I too have found different opinions in different places. In my knowledge it’s dual active as it has all the features that one dual active phone offers. What happens in case of dual active phone, you can receive calls in both sims at a time. You can also download in one sim while other sim in use for calling. One tap conference creation using dual sims is also featured by this model. All this suggests this is a dual active.

You may try Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos. It is dual active droid with one CDMA and one GSM SIM card slot. But the problem is you can get access to 3G network only through CDMA network. This phone operates on 3G EV-DO Rev. A protocol and yields up to 3.1 Mbps speed.

Are you suggesting that while attending a call in SIM 1, if someone calls me at SIM 2, the phone will show me the number or name as call waiting …..If so, Are there any phone available in market apart from LG that has this feature?

Dual SIM active phones use two transreceiver for two SIM cards. You can use both the SIMs at a time and it does not cause any problem what so ever. On the other hand dual SIM standby phones use single transreceiver to make calls. This transreceiver is shared between two SIMs. When one SIM is busy other SIM goes in to standby state automatically. As soon as the call gets disconnected both the SIMs come in operating state.
