No this is not a 3G supported device.BSNL Penta Tab IS701R supports only GSM network.
Can anyone confirm if it does support any kind of external modem?I know it has one USB port.But not all usb modems has in built drivers for Linux.So is it possible to connect to Internet via external modem? Or we will be stuck with the solo wifi option?
@Mihidana You can connect external modems as it has an usb2.0 slot. And it is also confirmed in http://www.pantel.in. However I am not too sure about what type of modems will work on this. Maybe BSNL modems will work.
Buy both the tabs ! Aakash and Bsnl Penta !! 6500 is better invested .. and It will come with CDMA Plan as it was like reliance Tab.. i heard so ..
The Ubislate 7+ has a voice calling option which makes it a great deal…. None of the specifications of Penta IS701R have mentioned about Voice calling option from the tablet.
Probably they lack the slot for sim…. Can anyone re-confirm ?
You are right!! There is not option for voice calling in BSNL Penta Tab. BSNL Penta T-PAD IS701R. It also lacks in 3G and GPRS feature. Ubislate 7+ comes with the previously mentioned features.
But Camera and HDMI port are the two features that BSNL Penta T-PAD IS701R owns but absent in Ubislate 7+.
There is not much of difference in price as BSNL Penta T-PAD IS701R comes at around Rs. 3250/- when the Ubislate comes at Rs. 2950/-

All features are not revealed yet. Pantel disclosed some features though. I guess PTab will come as CDMA and there will not be slot for SIM card and unlocking option will not be there as well. But not sure. I shall personally Email you as I get any information on these.
