LG Electronics will no longer be using chips made by Qualcomm or NVIDIA. Their in-house quad core L9 chip made of 4-ARM cores will debut in September as reported recently. The architecture is still unknown but GPU unit will be embedded in the chip.
LG so far failed to make the best use of the parts manufactured by the subsidiaries of the group. LG Display, LG Chem are two major subsidiaries of the group that supply different parts to global companies like Apple which clearly states the potentiality of the group. LG supply display materials to Apple for iPhone display. Finally, they decided to bring their own chip. It’s very much possible they can bring something like Exynos which is so far a revolutionary chip from Samsung.
