Micromax unveiled yet another pocket friendly Android tablet Funbook Talk. This is the fourth tablet launched in Indian market but this is the first one that boasts inbuilt SIM card slot. Tablets with SIM card slot means you can use it just like a phone. Though Micromax Funbook Talk comes with SIM card slot it operates only on GSM network. No 3G HSDPA network support. But GSM voice communication is always on. You can use external 3G USB dongles for 3G connectivity. It’s a 7 inch tablet that sports 480×800 pixels resolution support. Higher resolution would have been more appreciable, somehow, Micromax sticks with 480×800 pixel resolution.

1. Hardware
Built on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Micromax Funbook Talk features Micromax intuitive UI. Single core 1 GHz CPU is used in this tab; possibly AllWinner A10 chipset is used that couples Cortex A8 core and Mali 400-MP GPU. Just 512 MB RAM is supplied along with 4 GB of on board storage. May be the on board storage is shared with ROM. In that case, less than 4 GB free space will be allowed to users. But the micro SD card slot is there that can house up to 32 GB.
2. Network & Connectivity
Funbook Talk tab misses Bluetooth but Wi-Fi and micro USB are there to transfer data to and from the tab. Integrated SIM card slot supports Class 12 GPRS/EDGE data communication which means you can download data at most at 237 Kbps speed. The tab also supports 3G USB dongles. It’s still not clear whether Funbook Talk supports only Tata Photon Plus or not. In case it’s not locked to Photon Plus only you can use any 3G service and an unlocked dongle.
3. Camera
Front facing VGA camera is there in Micromax Funbook Talk.
4. Entertainment
Funbook Talk comes with integrated music, video player. No FM radio support is on. Both music and video player support variety of formats i.e. music formats: MP3, WAV, eAAC+, WMA, video formats: MP4, H.264, H.263, WMV. You can spend hours of time in listening to music or watching video.
5. Battery
Li-Ion 2800 mAh battery is used in Funbook Talk that ensures at least 5 hrs of usage and 112 hrs of talk time. In case it was a phone the battery was of more than average size but for a tablet the battery seems to be feeble. Do not expect too much from it.

The tab is tagged at Rs. 7249/- which is competitive for an Android tablet with GSM voice and data communication support.
Well, total features of the tab are yet to be revealed. Wait for few more days before we publish full specifications of Micromax Funbook Talk.
