Must See Places in India-Ajanta and Ellora
Though Ajanta and Ellora are pronounced together they have two specialties of their own and are must see places in India. Ajanta is famous for the paintings but Ellora can boast of the sculptures. In the hidden niches of the zigzag Western Ghats these temples lay there curved in solid rock sometimes in the 600 AD. Both the places are declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Rested amid the lush green Ellora is sure to enchant you with the artistic creations blended with artistic imagination. If you don’t go to Ellora once at least you are sure to repent for whole life.
Both the Ajanta and Ellora caves are cut from hard rocks by hand. It is told that the paintings and the curvatures are created by the Buddhist monks who wanted to teach the world what they learned. In the caves they performed their spiritual rituals and tred to highlight those places as centers of learning and Buddhist culture. With the aid of chisel and hammer the artists made the wonderful decorations on the rocky mountain walls. There are 34 caves in Ellora and 29 caves in Ajanta.
Most of the walls in Ajanta and Ellora are considered as must see places in India are curved to depict stories from the Jataka, stories about the incarnations of Lord Buddha.
