The 7 Most Important CEOs on Social Media

Social Media isn’t just for individuals who are looking to share a few picture with one another and comment on cat images or their sister’s baby picture. In fact, social media can be utilized in order to improve a business, raise company morale and to increase awareness of the organization. This is why some of the top CEOs in not only the country, but the entire world, are using social media. Although there is an extensive list, these are seven of the most important and influential CEOs on social media currently, all excellent at communicating with a voice (and a few have a masters of communication).

Rupert Murdoch

Rupert Murdoch is the billion dollar head of News Corporation and is nothing new to social media. In fact, he became one of the first individuals to take advantage of the service, and with his position he is incredibly influential, especially when it comes to financial issues.

Oprah Winfrey

While you might see her as Oprah, the charismatic talk show host, she also built an empire and is the head of HARPO Productions (named in part after a character in the movie The Color Purple, which she stared in, and that it spells out Oprah backwards). Currently she has over 15 million Twitter followers, making her not only one of the most powerful individuals on the planet, but also one of the most followed.

Richard Branson

Richard Branson seems to draw interest from all sorts of different individuals throughout the world. The head of Virgin, he first started off selling records and music to individuals visiting his music and entertainment stores, but he eventually started to spin outwards, offering all sorts of different services. He now owns an airline and his own mobile phone service, making him one of the most utilized business CEOs on the planet. Currently Richard has over 2.6 million followers on Twitter.

Mark Cuban

Most individuals know Mark Cuban as the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, but he owned HDNet, as well as dozens of other entities and businesses. He also appears on the television show Shark Tank, in which someone stands in front of several CEOs and proposes a product in hopes that one will buy the product, or at least give them a contract to work with them. With his 1.4 million Twitter followers, Mark Cuban is one of the most influential CEOs currently on social media.

Dennis Crowley

Some of the top CEOs currently using social media also helped found social media and spread its services. The name Dennis Crowley might not sound familiar, but chances are either you or someone you know has used his services. As the creator of FourSquare, a service in which you check in through another Social Media account (such as Facebook) and it posts your location regarding certain restaurants, all by earning you points and giving you possible deals at the restaurant. While not as powerful as a Richard Branson or a Mark Cuban, he is a leader when it comes to Internet technology.

Dick Costolo

Dick Costolo created Twitter and currently has one million followers on his Twitter account. So when you want to know what the creator of Twitter is tweeting, Dick Costolo is the person to follow.

Steve Forbes

The founder and owner of Forbes Magazine is one of the top CEOs currently using social media and while he only has 48,000 Twitter followers, he is one of the most powerful individuals in the world of business and advertising.
